Do you wish to reserve a specific time for your event at the Fremantle Roundhouse? Refer to the "Contact Us tab" of this website and fill the form to begin the booking process. Most times we allow walk-ins with a small group but depending on the time and the numbers in your group, we would love you to contact us so we can cater for your group and answer further queries. We prefer you fill the Contact Form giving us as much information as you can, however drop in, telephone or email us directly at, and we'll get back to you. All bookings are on a first in, first served basis. There is only one Cannon Firer booking taken per day for the One O'Clock Time Signal and Gun, for, you guessed it - One O'Clock, sharp!

If you’re teaching your students the history of Fremantle and would like to bring your class to the Roundhouse for an excursion, please contact us via the Contact Us tab of this website to reserve your booking giving us the information below allowing us to confirm your booking promptly. Schools that do not book will only be admitted when space is available - the Round House is very small and must remain open and accessible to the public during your visit. However there is plenty of room to wait on the adjacent grass. Request your date and time, or preferred dates and time if you have them. Please provide:

  • Name of School
  • Preferred Dates and time of visit
  • Teacher’s Name
  • Year Group
  • Number of Students and Teachers/Parents
  • Phone Number (and a contact mobile number for the day)
  • E-mail Address
  • Specific Interest, and
  • If visiting other venues in Fremantle that day please advise us of that too!

We may take a little while to respond as we complete administration within part time hours. So please allow as much time as possible. We can send the necessary Insurance cover note and negotiate the donated amount for your visit. If your school issues cheques only, please make the cheque out to Fremantle Volunteer Heritage Guides Association. The cheque is to be posted to us well before the day of the excusion,  if cheque or cash is handed to our volunteers Guides a receipt will be issued as soon as possible by email.

We welcome you to have your wedding photography on the reserve adjacent to the Fremantle Roundhouse at any time without booking. The entire reserve (Arthurs Head) is Heritage listed and is vested with and the City of Fremantle. Photography in the Roundhouse before or after the ceremony is always permitted during opening times. However if booking the lawn adjacent (see below) we can offer to extend opening hours for your exclusive use of the Round House for photography (both before or after usual opening hours). This must be arranged at the time of your booking as it requires scheduling of Guides to be in attendance to open or lock up for you.

For wedding ceremonies you are able to book the lawn area surrounding the Round House with us, although use of the Round House courtyard or cells are not permitted. The Round House, as Fremantle's first Gaol, is heritage listed and opened only by Fremantle Volunteer Guides special purpose lease from the City of Fremantle. It is with respect to the Round House's previous usage as a Colonial and Aboriginal prison that we don't permit any service or ceremonies to take place within its walls. However we will manage the time of your ceremony on the lawn with the intention to give you exclusive use, however as with any public place we cannot ensure this 100%, as the Guides on duty are unable to be enforce this and the City of Fremantle do not take bookings.  The usual laws pertaining to a public place apply. WA liquor law prohibits alcohol to be served. Local council regulations apply to any pets in attendance - they must be kept under strict control. Storage for extra items such as chairs or umbrellas is not available. The nearest public toilets on Mrs Trivett Place are open during daylight hours.

Please contact us by using the "contact us" tab on this website or email directly to to discuss your plans with us for your ceremony in this beautiful location.  A donation whilst confirming your booking will enable us to keep the Round House open to the public for many years to come.

Remember that Fremantle Roundhouse is run by volunteers and cannot run without the help of donations. Entry to the Round House is by a recommended gold coin donation and all donations are greatly appreciated.
